Charlie Kaufman Calls Disney CEO Bob Iger ‘Dishonest’ Over Wage – IndieWire

Charlie Kaufman is asking out Disney CEO Bob Iger over his strike response.

Iger initially argued the continuing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are “very disturbing” and “disruptive” to Hollywood post-COVID. The studio govt additionally claimed that the wage calls for from each unions are “not real looking.” Iger later added that he has “deep respect” for creatives amid the AMPTP negotiations.

Oscar winner Kaufman reacted to Iger’s statements throughout an interview with Selection whereas on the Sarajevo Movie Pageant.

“I’m questioning if his wage is real looking,” Kaufman stated in response to Iger. “I believe saying one thing like that, from the place he’s in, is cynical. Or dishonest.”

As for studio executives as a complete, Kaufman continued, “I believe they grasp it. I believe they know that their cash comes from different folks not getting cash…It’s disgusting, as a result of they don’t do something. No, they do harm is what they do. He added, “[Studio heads] usually are not ushering in any sort of lovely work by their presence. They’re sort of doing the alternative of that. And I believe it’s evidenced in what Hollywood produces, and the way the costlier a film is, the much less worth it has to the tradition.”
